I was there for two weeks around September of 2014 due to drug abuse and an attempted suicide. The food was good, the patients I was stuck with were mostly chill, the rooms were okay (except the bathrooms; not only do they not have shower curtains, but I had to use it one night and found a s***-covered towel behind the toilet), but the nurses and the doctors, not so much (Only have a 5-minute session every morning and that's it). Nurse Leslie (I don’t know if she still works there at this point in time, but), I’m onto her for not only snatching a paper I wrote some notes down to use for my meeting with my parents like she didn’t want them to know or see s*** that goes on within the facility's walls, but for sending me to the Palmetto Pee Dee Behavioral Health Center in Florence for the next three months (aka “The Worst 90 Days of My Life”) and lying to my mother that “it is a wonderful place, it's kinda like a small college, and that he’ll like it.”

I'm 17 and stayed for a week because I was suicidal. The food was good but you get basically no privacy and one of the nurses just absolutely hated everyone, it seemed like if she could control it she would do everything possible to make us miserable. Except for her the whole experience was pretty decent, made a few temporary friends and had decent time.

I was placed in Aurora in 2013 and it was a good decision that was made on my behalf by my mother all I can say is thank you

I hated everybody the first time my daughter was there. I felt nobody was listening to me. I said what I saw and they didn't listen. The second time wasn't much better, I felt she was manipulating all of them. But now I understand they have steps and I wanted step 5 when they were still on step 2. So when I took control instead of act like the injured parent, things changed for the better. They are there for her welfare, not mine. As a team we work better.

First off, let me say that after reading all of the reviews, some are just absurd. Nobody can be forced to have ECT,, I had it, and it was strictly my decision. There maybe some staff that are not as compassionate as others, but all of them are kind, dedicated and truly put the patient first. Please, please do not believe these bad reviews, some of these people may have felt or perceived things in a certain manner . Each is entitled to their own opinion. As far as I am concerned all my nurses, techs and staff as a whole on unit 2 are amazing, they treated everyone with respect, and as a person. I literally owe my life to this facility. I only hope someday I can have the opportunity to go back and help others that are in my previous situation. To every person from housekeeping to Dr. Deleon (hopefully I spelled her name correctly), all I can say is, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for helping this crazy junkie getting his life back. God bless you all.
